5 Days To Go

We are off to our long-awaited return to Africa. We will be visiting remote camps in Zambia and Namibia for wild life photography, and will have some time to explore Cape Town. We are now 5 days into the countdown, leaving on Friday 11/2. No hairdryers allowed on safari, so we've both cut our hair to wash and wear short. We're still challenged by getting our stuff under 26 pounds. Camera gear, a computer and a book get you half way there pretty quick! We'll keep you posted as we can along the way.

Nov 4-6
- Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa

Nov 6-9 - Busanga Bush Camp, Kafue, Zambia

Busanga Bush Camp in the north-western section of the Busanga is about as 'wild'
as you can get in today's world: an unfenced mosaic of expansive
grassy seasonal floodplains and "dambos" (open grassy areas that sometimes will fill up with rainwater). This camp is perfectly situated for some of the best lion viewing in Africa.

Nov 9-12 - Lunga River Lodge, Kafue, Zambia

The deep and clear Lunga River is the largest tributary of the Kafue River and species like puku and impala are abundant while roan and Lichtenstein's hartebeest occur in lower densities. Viewing of buffalo herd and elephant bulls is good while lion and leopard are regularly encountered. Additional interesting species in the form of yellow baboons and tree hyrax occur in the vicinity of the camp while a high density hippo population occurs in
the Lunga River.

Nov 12-16 - Nkwali, South Luangwa, Zambia

Nkwali is located on Robin Pope's private land, overlooking the National Park. The land is superb gameviewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grasslands. Elephants regularly cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room.

Nov 16-17
- Chaminuka Nature Reserve, Lusaka, Zambia

Set in the heart of pristine wild landscape, the largest private nature reserve in Zambia, the lodge of Chaminuka commands spectacular views over Chitoka lake where the full moon gazes at her own reflection.
